COTTON BAGS
On the 18th December 2008, I sadly lost my Dad.
We are all devastated, and it has left us with a gaping hole in our lives. My Dad had been unwell since being 11 years old, he had PKD [polycystic kidney disease]; in his lifetime he had many, stays in hospital,lots of operations, and treatment , he had been on dialisis and had two kidney transplants , he was 60 when we lost him .
Pkd is a hereditry disease ,I have PKD, and so does my younger brother, though we have kidney cysts, we have been lucky and have not suffered any symptoms as yet,as this is a hereditry disease then my children have been tested and also my brothers too.
My Dad was a very special person , there are so many families going through what we are going through now,kidney disease takes lives. As you know we already donate to 4 charities, but we have decided that in memory of my dad ,we are going to sell printed cotton bags and ALL proceeds will go to a charity that hopefully will help children and adults in the future who suffer from this terrible disease.You can buy these here, or on one of our markets or festivals > ABOUT PKD;
PKD is an abbreviation for POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE, an inherited range of diseases which are a common cause of kidney failure.
ADPKD - AUTOSOMAL DOMINANT POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE, the world’s most common inherited life-threatening condition, in which fluid-filled cysts develop in both kidneys. Between 1 in 800 and 1 in 1000 people worldwide suffer from ADPKD. Over half of those affected will have kidney failure by the time they are 60 years old. If someone has ADPKD, there is a 50% likelihood that the disease will pass to each child. WWW.PKDCHARITY.CO.UK
